In 2018 I was honoured to participate in the Karelia Art Residence in Petrozavodsk, Russia. During the length of this month-long residency I had a solo exhibition, Cetology, at the Vyhod Media Centre featuring works that I brought with me from Canada. My residency project was a series of drawings called Waterland. In this series I combined the form (the outer shape) of lakes and various bodies of water from the region with patterning inspired by walks that I took outside and research of the natural history of the area. Over the time that I spent at this residency I was able to give an artist talk, gallery tours, create drawings inside of the gallery during the length of the exibition, lead a workshop for local youth, was interviewed by a journalism class and participated in Museum Night (a national event where museums and galleries are free to the public and offer tours).
