Relying on memory I drew the outer contour of each whale blindfolded, each time thinking of a specific species. This process is slow and methodical, meditating on the unique shape and mannerisms of each whale. The resulting drawings are simultaneously familiar and strange, reminiscent of historical illustrations of whales which look like a combination of fact and fiction.
